The Ultimate Fall Bucket List

Fall is officially here in Georgia, and if you’re anything like us, this is one of the most magical times of the year.

Cooler mornings, changing leaves, pumpkin patches, apple picking, football, festivals and weekends that seem to fill up before we know it—it’s hard to beat fall in North Georgia.

As real estate professionals and moms, we spend a lot of time exploring the communities we serve. And while we love helping our clients discover the right place to call home, we also love discovering all the little traditions and local experiences that make living here so special.

Whether you’re new to Georgia or have been here for years, we pulled together our 2026 fall bucket list with everything from quick afternoon stops in Milton to full-day North Georgia adventures.

So grab your calendar, round up the kids and start planning. 

Scottsdale Farms – Milton, GA

📅 Pumpkin Patch: September–fall season | Family Fun Field opens September 19

This one is practically a local fall tradition.

Scottsdale Farms is beautiful year-round, but there’s something especially charming about it in the fall. The pumpkin patch is filled with pumpkins and gourds in every shape and color, along with mums, hay bales and plenty of opportunities for fall photos.

And in 2026, the Family Fun Field is back with giant slides, hayrides, a corn maze, zip lines, farm animals and lawn games.

It’s also one of our favorite options when you want a little fall magic without committing to an entire day.

Mom tip: The pumpkin patch itself is free, so you can easily stop by for pumpkins, coffee and photos without making it a big production.

Warbington Farms – Cumming, GA

📅 Fall season begins September 19

Warbington Farms is another North Fulton favorite, and it’s especially great for younger kids, as much if it is open yet contained to let the little ones run wild within your eyesight.

The 2026 fall season includes a pumpkin patch, corn maze, hayrides, jumping pillow, corn crib, slides, bubbles, tractor rides to visit the cows, and more.

It’s the kind of place where you can let the kids run, get appropriately dirty and come home with a pumpkin in the backseat. They also have a limited food menu and their sparkling cider is a hit.

And if you’re looking for those classic fall family photos, the farm’s flowers and fall décor make for a beautiful backdrop.

BJ Reece Orchards – Ellijay, GA

📅 U-Pick season begins August 29 and runs through fall

If apple picking is on your fall bucket list, put BJ Reece at the top.

Their 2026 U-Pick season is open seven days a week throughout September and October, making it easy to plan around busy family schedules.

Pick your own apples, explore the farm, grab apple cider donuts and, of course, bring home one of their famous fried pies.

Our favorite way to do it: Make the orchard the first stop, then spend the rest of the day exploring Ellijay.

Georgia Apple Festival – Ellijay, GA

📅 October 10–11 & October 17–18, 2026

If you want to turn your apple-picking trip into a full fall day, plan it around the Georgia Apple Festival.

The festival celebrates all things apple with hundreds of arts and crafts vendors, food, handmade goods and plenty of fall treats.

There’s also the Apple Arts Festival in downtown Ellijay happening the same weekends, so you can combine the festival with shopping, coffee and exploring downtown.

This is one of those North Georgia traditions that is worth making an annual event.

Cress Creeks Farm – Ellijay, GA

📅 September 25–November 1, 2026

Cress Creeks offers a more rustic, farm-focused fall experience with a seasonal corn maze, barrel train, outdoor games and the opportunity to meet the farm’s sheep.

They also offer baby lamb experiences, which makes this a particularly fun choice for families with younger children.

If you’re looking for something that feels a little less like a large commercial fall festival and a little more like a North Georgia farm adventure, add this one to your list.

The pumpkin fields, mountain scenery and hayrides have made this a family tradition for generations, and 2026 brings something new.

This year, Burt’s is introducing Autumn & Gordy’s Harvest House, billed as the world’s largest drive-through pumpkin, as part of the hayride experience.

Admission and parking are free, with hayrides available for an additional fee.

It’s an especially good choice if you want the quintessential North Georgia pumpkin farm experience without driving all the way to the mountains.

Cagle’s Family Farm – Canton, GA

📅 Opens September 25, 2026

Cagle’s is fall festival energy in the best way.

Think corn mazes, tractor rides, bonfires, marshmallow roasting and plenty of room for kids to run.

The evening hours make this one particularly fun for a family night out—especially when you want to turn a pumpkin patch trip into an actual fall event.

Pro tip: Bring a sweatshirt later in the season. Once the sun goes down, those bonfires and marshmallows start sounding even better.

Fall Festivals & Events to Put on the 2026 Calendar

The farms are only part of the fun. There are also a few local events that deserve their own spot on the calendar.

Crabapple Fest – Milton

📅 October 3, 2026 | 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

This one is right in our backyard—and it’s one of Milton’s signature fall traditions.

Crabapple Road transforms into a bustling outdoor festival with more than 100 arts, crafts, antique and retail vendors, food, live entertainment and family activities.

It’s the perfect fall Saturday to stroll, shop and enjoy the community.

And honestly, if you live in Milton, this is one we wouldn’t miss.

Wire & Wood Songwriters Festival – Downtown Alpharetta

📍 Downtown Alpharetta
📅 October 9–10, 2026

Fall in Alpharetta isn’t just pumpkins.

Wire & Wood brings live music and singer-songwriters to stages throughout downtown Alpharetta, making it a great date night—or a fun evening out with friends.

Grab dinner downtown, walk the streets and catch a few performances along the way.

It’s one of our favorite reminders that fall in North Fulton can be just as much about enjoying the community as it is about pumpkins and hayrides.

North Georgia State Fair – Marietta

For the kids who would choose carnival rides and funnel cake over apple picking every single time…

The North Georgia State Fair is back with rides, fair food, entertainment, petting barns and plenty of classic fair fun.

It’s an easy fall outing when you want something different from the traditional farm experience.

Cumming Country Fair & Festival

📍 Cumming Fairgrounds
📅 October 8–18, 2026

Another North Georgia classic.

The Cumming Country Fair & Festival brings carnival rides, food, entertainment and family activities to the Cumming Fairgrounds for nearly two weeks.

It’s an easy one to add to the calendar if you’re looking for a casual weeknight or weekend fall outing close to home.

Stone Mountain Pumpkin Festival

📅 September 19–November 1, 2026

This is one of the bigger fall experiences in the Atlanta area—and it’s worth the drive.

Stone Mountain’s Pumpkin Festival combines daytime family activities with evening fall entertainment, lights and a special nighttime atmosphere.

If you have kids who love the magical side of fall, plan to stay into the evening.

Helen Oktoberfest – Helen, GA

📅 September 10–November 1, 2026

For a fall day trip—or even a one-night getaway—Helen is hard to beat.

The annual Oktoberfest runs for weeks and brings German food, music, dancing and plenty of fall atmosphere to the mountain town.

It’s family-friendly, too, so you can make it a daytime adventure with the kids or turn it into a grown-up weekend getaway.

And if you’re already heading that direction, the North Georgia mountains are beautiful this time of year.

Hillcrest Orchards – Ellijay

Hillcrest is especially family-friendly for little apple pickers, with apples that are easy for kids to reach and plenty of photo opportunities around the farm.

Mercier Orchards – Blue Ridge

Mercier is worth the drive for the full mountain experience. Pick apples, visit the market and bakery, then make your way into Blue Ridge for lunch or a stroll through town.

It’s an easy way to turn a fall tradition into a full North Georgia day trip.

A Few Mom-to-Mom Tips

Plan around the crowds.
Popular farms and festivals can get very busy on October weekends. If your schedule allows, go early in the day or choose a weekday.

Check the weather before you leave.
Georgia fall can mean 48° at breakfast and 78° by lunch. Layers are your friend.

Bring the essentials.
Snacks, wipes, sunscreen, water and an extra change of clothes are never a bad idea when you're spending the day on a farm with little ones.

Wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
Especially for corn mazes and pumpkin patches. Mud happens.

Check websites before heading out.
Farm hours, U-Pick availability, weather closures, ticketing and activities can change throughout the season.

Don't try to do it all in one weekend.
One of the best parts of fall in North Georgia is making these places traditions. Pick a few favorites and come back year after year.
