2024 Property Tax Bills Are Out

Camille Lialios

The 2024 property tax bills were released in October in many counties. As the current owner of the property, you are responsible for ensuring that the property tax bill(s) are paid. Property tax bills are calculated based upon ownership on January 1st, which means that although you are the current owner of the property, the prior owner's name may be reflected on the bill(s) and will likely be mailed to that prior owner. As a result, it is possible that you may not receive a copy fo the bill(s). Neverthelss, you are responsible for payment.

If you established an escrow account with your lender, your lender will pay the tax bill(s) from your escrow account. Please note not all lenders escrow for the solid waste/sanitation tax bill, so you may need to pay that bill separately. You can send your loan servicing company a copy of all tax bills to ensure timely payment.

If you DO NOT have an escrow account or puchased with cash, you are responsible for paying the tax bill in full. it is highly recommended that you look for the tax bill online since you may not get a copy of the bill in the mail.

If you do not receive a copy of the tax bill(s), you can visit the county's tax commissioner's website to find a copy of the bill, deadlines and to make your payments. You can find a link to your county's tax commissioner by visiting this link: County Tax Commissioner Links. The link for Fulton county, can be found here: Fulton County Tax Commissioner
